News and information about our activities and the local area
Whether for breakfast, brunch or lunch, or even just a quick refreshment, finding a good café where you can rest your legs is part of the holiday experience. Fortunately, the Lake District market town of Keswick has plenty of good cafés to choose from. In fact, the difficulty will be trying to limit your options! But don't worry, we're here to help, with our personal pick of the best cafés in Keswick.
Looking for other options? We've also got plenty of other guides to eating and drinking in Keswick.
Serving an interesting and full-flavoured menu, Merienda has plenty of charm. They pride themselves on hearty food, freshly made, that will give you plenty of energy for any fell walking or outdoor activities you might have planned. It's very cosy inside, with relaxing décor and a warmth that's not only down to the heating.

The Wild Strawberry is notable in Keswick for its whitewashed front, red-fronted windows and, of course, the large strawberry sign. The family-run business is a café-cum-patisserie with lots of delicious cakes and pastries to choose from, as well as afternoon tea options. Their coffee is roasted in nearby Coniston while their tea is from the Brew Tea Co. Inside it's all modern clean lines, with outside seating on an enclosed patio also available.

Keswick's newest café, Fabrica is already proving very popular thanks to its colourful and tasty food. An eclectic mix of artwork hangs from almost every space on the wall. They're particularly popular for brunch, but also serve a good English breakfast (and more) and lunch options. They have plenty of gluten-free choices available, too, so are a great place to go if you have dietary restrictions.

The shop front at Chinty's is so small and unassuming that you'd be forgiven for walking past and not noticing it's there. However, step inside and you'll find a small and cosy café and a warm welcome. Slightly away from the main hustle and bustle of Keswick, yet still in the centre, Chinty's has a small but mighty menu, all homemade and fresh. Their scones are a particular favourite and you can even have a tinkle on the piano if you fancy it!

Is it a café or a bar? Why not both? The Square Orange is a snug spot for refreshments and, although the main speciality is pizza (which are well-worth a try!), the quirky café also has lots of very tempting cakes, good coffee, and more. There's a full complement of drinks to choose from, and even a generous vegan menu to boot. Swing by and stop in for the bustling vibe and friendly atmosphere.

Sweet, luxury coffees are the speciality of Java. There are also plenty of other options, though, if cream-topped lates aren't your thing. Hot chocolates, spice-infused teas, iced drinks and, of course, plenty of cake can all be found here. Inside is absolutely lovely, with big squishy sofas, a cast iron fireplace, and wooden floors. It's everything a café should be!

Named after the owners' cockapoos, Jasper's is an independent coffee shop serving local coffee from Carvetti. There's a great selection of food for breakfast, brunch and lunch, and you'll be very happy with whatever you order.
Jasper's is, naturally, very dog friendly. You're encouraged to take pictures of your dogs and send them in - a monthly winner is chosen to go on "Jasper's photo wall", a cute display of dog photos that you can admire while you eat and drink.
