Here’s our pick of some of the Keswick restaurants that we rate.
One of our absolute favourites, The Round serves the BEST burgers ever. And we don’t say that lightly. This restaurant-with-bar offers a buzzing atmosphere right in the heart of Keswick. They don’t take bookings, so just walk in, find a seat, and pick from their mountain-themed menu. There’s the Great Gobble, Striding Veg, and Harissa Stickle to name just a few. After you’re done eating, hang out at the bar for some delicious cocktails or craft beers.
Check out their sister restaurant, Fellpack, too.
Who doesn’t love a tasty pizza after a day exploring the lakes and mountains? Casa Bella is a family run restaurant serving up all sorts of Italian goodies from quirky pizzas to satisfying pastas and hearty meat dishes. They also make traditional homemade gelato that you can eat for desert or just as a snack as you’re passing by.

We’re off now to another part of the world in the shape of Asaya, a Thai restaurant in a lovely double-fronted building on Keswick’s John Street. Open 7 days a week, the small family team are dedicated to friendly service and authentic Thai cuisine. This is a great place if you like a spicy fix, but there’s also plenty for those with a milder taste. Enjoy the aromatic meals and welcoming atmosphere while you’re here.
If you fancy something homey and comforting, then the pub food and real ales at The Pheasant Inn will be just up your street. You can expect to have your pick of popular pub fare including Cumberland sausage and mash, homemade soup, beef pie and Whitby scampi. They even have the added bonus of an open fire – perfect if you happened to get a little bit wet on one of our outdoor activities!
Rustic, colourful and relaxed, Bar eS is a delight from the moment you walk in the front door. With a great choice of Mexican Tapas dishes, the restaurant is slightly off the main hustle and bustle of Keswick’s main streets, so you could easily miss it if you didn’t know where to look. It’s certainly worth hunting out though and everyone from meat eaters to vegans are catered for. Food is served until 9pm every day of the week, and the bar is open until 11pm (or midnight on Friday and Saturday), so there’s no need for you to hurry away.
Nothing fills you up after a day of adventure activities like a great big steak, and that’s just what The Sizzling Stone brings to the table (pun intended)! Using locally-reared meat and fish, the dishes are bought to your seat to be cooked to perfection on a hot lava stone. On top of the great food, you can expect brilliant service and an unusual and fun dining experience. There’s even a patio and roof terrace so you can enjoy al fresco dining in the warmer months!
This teeny tiny restaurant is small on space but big on character thanks to its tasty food, colourful décor and well stocked bar. You can’t book at The Square Orange but, even if you have a little wait for a seat, your patience will be well rewarded. The pizzas are particularly popular, but you’ll also want to try their tapas, nachos, coffees, beers… Really, you’ll need several visits to do this place justice! They also host the occasional live music night.
Chinese food is the nation’s favourite, so Golden Hills has a real treat in store! Run by second generation British Born Chinese couple Laura and Andy, their aim is to provide a truly excellent eating experience. The seasonal produce means you can be sure of the freshest of food, and it’s all cooked to perfection with Cantonese and Peking influences. There are even some secret family recipes used, providing you with a really unique taste! Takeaway is also available if you prefer.
The modern, cosy décor and quality fresh food combine to make Thyme Bistro a real treat for the tastebuds. Produce is locally sourced as far as possible, and they’ll happily cater to specific dietary needs. Quirky touches, a warm smile as you arrive, and reasonable prices will make you want to eat here again and again!
The award-winning Brossen Steakhouse serves quality food with real panache – just ask the AA, who have awarded it one of their coveted Rosettes! Perfect if you’re after something a little bit fancy, large-scale murals will help you identify the various cuts of meat, while the Danish-inspired décor feels clean and fresh. Fire up the grill and get ready for a great meal!
