Packrafting is taking the adventure world by storm and we're excited to bring it to Keswick and Derwentwater for you to experience. With half-day, full-day and even multi-day adventures available, you'll paddle rivers, cross lakes and hike mountains. Explore the Lake District without a car and escape the city life and the modern world, just for a while.

What is Packrafting?

A packraft is a lightweight inflateable boat that packs away quickly and easily so that it can be carried on your back like a rucksack before you unpack it at the next lake or river. It means that you can easily switch from water to land and back again for a full-blown adventure day of exploring the Lake District.

The Winding River: Half Day

Suitable for all levels of adventurers, the Winding River half day packrafting experience keeps things pretty easy, while you still get to see plenty of glorious scenery. We'll paddle up the widing rivers in Borrowdale before crossing Derwentwater at a relaxed pace. There are a few gentle rapids on the river to keep you on your toes, but you'll be in safe hands at all times.

If you're up for it, we'll take a leap off the Chinese Bridge before having lunch by the water's edge and then heading back to HQ.

Iconic Lake District: Full Day

With the lakes below you and the mountains above, you'll explore the iconic scenery of the Lake District.

Starting with a paddle through Borrowdale and across Derwentwater, we'll then pack up our rafts to hike the famous Catbells mountain. Once we've admired the views - including Lake District giants such as Skiddaw and Blencathra - we'll have some lunch and head back down to the water's edge. From there, it's a final gentle paddle across Derwentwater. We'll land at Keswick, wrapping up the day with a drink by the shore before heading home.

Please note that minimum fitness levels are required for the full day packrafting experience.

Wilderness Adventure: Multi-Day

Totally immerse yourself in the scenery with an adventure that takes you packrafting and wild camping.

As with our shorter adventures, we'll kick off with a river and/or lake paddle near Keswick or another Lake District location. What happens next will depend on the area and your preferences. We'll be hiking through stunning mountain scenery to find our wild camping pitch, but we might also take in some river rafting or wild swimming to break up the day.

We'll find a beautiful, isolated spot to camp and wrap up the day watching the sun set over the fells. Then it's time for a well-deserved rest before you're up again the next morning to enjoy the peaceful dawn. Take in the silence before hiking back to reality, safe in the fact that you've had a unique and unforgettable experience amongst the lakes and mountains.

Please note that minimum fitness levels are required for the multi-day packrafting adventure.
