News and information about our activities and the local area
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with ASAP Water Crafts to provide jet boarding on Derwentwater! We are the first and only outdoor company to provide this in the UK so we can’t WAIT! , Jet boarding is available for a limited time only this summer.
Jet Boards are eco-friendly electric crafts that zip across the water at up to 10 miles per hour (the maximum speed allowed on Derwentwater, which is where we’ll be using them). Noiseless, they propel you along, and can even go underwater as well as doing spins and other tricks! They provide a uniquely fun way of spending time on the water.
The boards were invented by engineer Ross Kemp, who wanted to build a rescue water craft that was lightweight, quick, and easy to launch. After building the prototype in a tent in his garden, his fundraising efforts caught the interest of Sir Richard Branson. Soon, seeing an opportunity for a leisure craft as well as something for rescue, the Wave Jam was born, too. We are delighted to be working with Ross to introduce these to more people!
When Lee Simpson, Keswick Adventure’s head-honcho, first hopped on a board, he was blown away. As a seasoned outdoor adventurer, having worked across the world running activities, he’s tried almost everything out there. But this was something new and he was immediately addicted. He knew he had to share it with visitors to the Lake District and Keswick!
That’s why, this summer, we’ll be running a limited number of jet boarding sessions on Derwentwater. Available from the 22nd of July to the 1st of August 2021 ONLY, there are only 8 spaces each day (5 per session).
